Instagram Launches Private Messaging


A so called super adjective photo-sharing platform called "Instagram" becoming indispensable in the visual communication world. Started in 2010 with 18 million  users to 150 million in 2013. Within  three years span of time, Instagram under went a radical change. In 2010 user shared 86 billion  photos with their friends, colleagues and love ones and in 2011 the stats of photo-sharing had reached to 360 billion which is four times greater than 2010.

The unprecedented idea to rise the ability to share photos in real-time world is enabling the users to communicate through pictures. Daily more than half of 150 million users use Instagram. For instance, when you share a photo bathing in the sea  to your friends. It communicates that where you are, what are you doing and who you are with.

A giant photo-sharing Service Instagram company launched its new feature known as “INSTAGRAM DIRECT" last year on 12 Dec, 2013. Now users will be able to send photos, videos and messages privately. Instagram Direct offers to send video to a single person or up to 15 people.

In a presentation in New York, the co-founder of Instagram Kevin Systrom says: “Sometimes you want to be able to share, not with everyone, but just with a specific group.” Instagram which was bought by Facebook in 2012 unfolded its three years statistics and claim to have 150 million users who have shared 16 billion photos through this platform and daily increase more and more and capturing  and sharing  moments all around the globe.




You’ll now see a new icon in the top right corner of your home feed. Tap it to open your inbox where you’ll see photos and videos that people have sent to you. To send a photo or video to specific people, tap the camera button to enter the same simple photo or video capture and editing screens. At the top of the share screen, you’ll see the option to share with your followers (“Followers”) or to send to specific people (“Direct”).

 To send using Direct, tap the names of the people you want to send your photo or video to, write your caption, tap “send” and you’re done. Photos and videos that you receive from people you follow will appear immediately. If someone you’re not following sends you a photo or video on Instagram, it will go to your requests so you can decide if you want to view it.

nice features but i think it will lose their own characteristic that instagram already had so far as it also have the features that facebook had.. but its a great idea to add up some new features in its app.
